Get Involved and Volunteer!
We understand that each of our families has unique situations and structures. We also understand that your time is limited and that pieces of it vanish when you are working, making meals, and running your children around to clubs, sports, and experiences. As parents, we are all very busy caring for our families.
Our coaches and staff spend countless hours away from their families, donating their time to give your child a quality wrestling experience. Their love of the sport and desire to develop and positively motivate your child is evident in their service. But they cannot do it alone. We need a couple of hours of your time and support to run our program!
Why we need you...
While volunteering in the sport of wrestling can seem intimidating, we assure you it is not hard and that when you get involved you enjoy the sport more. By participating, you learn about wrestling and get to know other families.
Our home matches usually last about 2-3 hours.
To give you a preview of how you can volunteer at our home meets:
-
We typically run 3-5 mats. At each mat, we have 3 people sitting at a table. One person keeps score, one person keeps time, and one person throws a rolled-up towel onto the mat when time has expired. We rotate volunteers every hour and a half.
-
We run a concession stand. We ask for 4 or 5 volunteers to sell food. We rotate volunteers every hour and a half.
-
We can assure you that you will never miss your child's match. We talk with each other to ensure this does not happen and relieve you several matches in advance of your child's match.
Other volunteering opportunities include setting up mats and tables before the matches, and photographing matches. Please reach out for any volunteering questions.
About Boyertown Youth Wrestling Club
-
We pride ourselves in being a family-oriented Club. Throughout the wrestling season, we work together closely. The winter months of our season are long, cold, and busy, and we like to keep everyone involved to keep warm! Our Club is run by volunteers and we need everyone to lend a hand to make the experience the best for the wrestlers.
-
We like to keep everyone well-informed. We to use Team Snap, which is a comprehensive registration and communication tool. After you register your wrestler, you will receive emails and text messages from our Club via Team Snap. Additionally, you will use Team Snap throughout the season as a sign-up tool. You can conveniently access Team Snap using your phone, tablet, laptop, etc. You can even download the app! After registration closes, everyone who registered will receive an email inviting you to join. You need to accept that invitation to become a part of our Boyertown Youth Wrestling Club community.
-
STEP LEVEL INFORMATION: Step 1 includes grades 1 & 2; Step 2 includes grades 3 & 4; Step 3 includes grades 5 & 6
-
Your wrestler will practice two nights each week. Advanced wrestlers will participate in an extra optional practice. Practices are held in the evening.
-
UNIFORM: Wrestlers wear a uniform called a singlet to wrestle in matches. Wrestlers will also need wrestling shoes, wrestling headgear, and wrestlers with braces will need a mouthguard.
-
Matches start in December and run through February. They are always on a Saturday and they last for approximately 2-3 hours. Wrestlers are not required to wrestle in matches. It is at the discretion of the family and coach. We will be calling upon volunteers to help run matches smoothly. You will need to indicate that your child plans to wrestle in a match the Wednesday before it occurs, using Team Snap. We will show you how to do this at our parent meeting.
-
Our wrestlers will have the opportunity to participate in several Club sponsored tournaments throughout the season.
-
We end our season in March with a family dinner banquet.
-
Communication with your coach is key to providing your child with a positive experience on the mat. Please do not hesitate to contact your Step Level head coach with questions or concerns you may have.
-
Please read the Parent Handbook
-
Please refer to the Parent's Guide to Youth Wrestling if you have questions about the sport of wrestling.
