Tony has been involved with Pennsylvania wrestling for well over 30 years. In his competitive career, Tony competed for Millville High School and then collegiately at Mansfield and Bloomsburg Universities.
After college, Tony coached at Southern Columbia, Methacton, and Boyertown High schools, as both a head and assistant coach. He has coached teams to an amazing 305 victories and 10 league championships. He coached 13 State place winners, 7 Regional Champions, and 22 District Champions.
Head Coach Pete Ventresca states "Tony is an excellent assistant coach. Tony works tirelessly all year to help out wrestlers improve themselves and in turn our program. He helps run numerous events in our program such as our spring, summer, and fall workout sessions, and always helps to take our kids to camp every year."
"Tony is more than just a coach to many of the members of our team - he is a mentor. He is someone who has taken more kids under his wing then I could ever mention - kids who were headed down the wrong road in life and that he around by developing within them the tools necessary for success. He has provided them understanding and compassion while at the same time giving them an appreciation of the importance of hard work and discipline and how it relates to success in wrestling and in life."
"I count myself lucky to have Tony as an Assistant Coach. He has willingly taken on countless responsibilities and acted as counselor to me when I need to make difficult decisions - both of which are crucial to having a successful program."
"And success we have had with Tony as my assistant. We have had a record of 113-31, were three-time PAC 10 (our league) Champions, two-time Division 1 Duals Champions, and Division 1 Duals Runner Up."
"In my humble opinion, because of all he has done and continues to do for the sport of wrestling and for his athletes, Tony deserves to be the Wrestling USA Magazine's Assistant Coach of the Year."
