What is BAWA?
For almost 20 years, the Boyertown Area Wrestling Association
has been a crucial part of the Boyertown wrestling community. BAWA's role is to provide support for the entire Boyertown Wrestling program from the Youth
to the Senior High level. In collaboration with alumni and community partners, BAWA's intention is to create consistency at all levels of wrestling,
thereby making it easier for the wrestlers to progress and reach their potential.
Therefore, we welcome members from all areas of our community from the parents, to the wrestlers, to the fans. This will help create the continuity
that is vital to any successful wrestling program.
BAWA's Responsibilities
To foster our wrestlers' growth, BAWA draws on resources such as the skills and knowledge of the wrestling alumni and other fans in our area and provides
support by hosting tournaments; maintaining the BASHwrestling.com website; offering financial scholarships; dispensing funds for equipment, uniforms camps,
tournaments and lodging; organizing and running wrestling clinics for Boyertown wrestlers; providing elite coaching and training experiences, and more! We also
created a wrestling room within the last several years, the Bear Training Center (BTC), which is a training facility where kids of all ages come to practice,
train, and grow their wrestling skills. This year, BAWA is very excited to announce the newest addition to our wrestling community... a girl's wrestling program
that was just approved by the school district in June!

History of BAWA
For a number of years, the concept of an all-inclusive umbrella organization had been discussed by several coaches in the district. One of the first attempts
to create this organization occurred in 2001-02 when the youth program and the high school parents association met to discuss merging the two. Although that did
not work out, the seed had been planted.
During the 2003-04 season, the high school coaches had discussed the desire to create, organize and run a dual meet tournament at Boyertown Area Senior High.
However, such an event requires large numbers of volunteers and support from the community. Thus, while the tournament was being organized, so was BAWA. By April
2004, all 10 teams for the 1st Annual Bear Duals were set as was the first meeting of BAWA. On June 22, 2004, BAWA was officially incorporated as a non-profit
organization. Then, on February 9, 2005, BAWA was officially approved as a 501c3 tax exempt non-profit organization.
