Bears place 6 and advance 4 to states

Malfaro wins Regional Title

Congratulations to the Boyertown Wrestling Team who earned 3rd place honors and placed 6 out of the 10 wrestlers they brought to this weekend's South Eastern Regional Wrestling Tournament. Placing for the Bears were Champion Matt Malfaro, Runner Up Alex Pellicciotti, 3rd Place winner Zach Heffner, 4th Place winner Jeremy Minich, 5th Place Finisher Jon Neiman and 6th place Finisher Brock Hallman. Coach Ventresca commented on the day's events "I was proud of the way our boys wrestled today. They came in and wrestled with incredible intensity and heart." The Bears will advance 4 wrestlers to states this week. Matt Malfaro, Alex Pellicciotti, Zach Heffner and Jeremy Minich will all represent the Bears as they strive for an individual state title. Go Bears!

Final step to Hershey this weekend

This weekend is the final step in the long journey to Hershey and the PIAA individual championships. Ten BASH wrestlers have qualified for the South East AAA regional tournament being held this weekend at Council Rock North HS. You can follow along with all the action and results by clicking the link below, if you can't make it there in person. The top 4 wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the PIAA Championships next weekend. Good luck to all the Bears!

Neiman and Benfield make it a "Perfect 10"

Congratulations to Jon Neiman and Adam Benfieild who both won their 5th place consolation matches at Great Valley High School on Monday night. This means that the Bears will advance a perfect 10 out of 10 wrestlers who entered last weekend's District tournament to the South Eastern Regional Tournament at Council Rock North this coming weekend. This record setting performance puts the Bears in a great position to challenge for the Regional title and advance numerous wrestlers to the PIAA State Tournament in Hershey. Coach Ventresca commented about the team's latest accomplishments "This team has finally started to reach it's true potential. We are excited about competing this upcoming weekend."

Bears dominate District South to earn team title

Congratulations to the Boyertown Bears Wrestling team for their impressive performance at this weekend's District I South Wrestling Tournament. Ten BASH wrestlers entered the tournament, and ten BASH wrestlers left, still alive in the post season and as Team Champions. The Bears out distanced their opponents by over 5o points which garunteed them the Team Title. Taking home gold for the Bears were Matt Malfaro, Jeremy Minich, and Alex Pellicciotti. Earning runner up honors were Adam Kolb and Zach Heffner and earning 3rd place was Brock Hallman. Earning 4th and 5th place respectively were Tyler Mauger and Peter Jones. All of these Bear have allready qualified to compete in next week's Regional Tournament. Due a postponement and NFHS rule allowing a wrestler to only compete 5 times in a single day, Jon Nieman and Adam Benfield will have to compete tonight at Great Valley High School for a 5th place finish and the right to compete in the Regional tournament at Council Rock next week. GO BEARS! 

Special congratulations go out to Jeremy Minch who earned his 100th career victory.

Bears roll to team title in Section 4 tourney

Congratulations to the Boyertown Bears vasity wrestling team for winning the Section 4 Wrestling tournament this weekend. The Bears had an impressive 8 finalist which is a school record and easily out distanced themselves from their closest opponent by nearly 50 points. Taking home championships for the Bears were: Adam Kolb, Alex Pellicciotti, and Zach Heffner. Receiving runner-up honors were Matt Malfaro, Jeremy Minich, Jon Neiman, Brock Hallman and Tyler Mauger. Taking home third and fourth respectively and advancing to next week District I South tournament at Oxford were Peter Jones and Adam Benfield.

Bears beat Pius 78-4; Clinch 4th straight PAC-10 title

Congratulations to the Boyertown Wrestling team who earned their fourth straight PAC 10 title by defeating St. Pius by a score of 78 to 4. Earning falls for the Bears were Luke Hoffman, Brock Hallman, Ryan Schwager, Austin Mutter, Adam Kolb, Matt Malfaro, Jeremy Minich, Peter Jones, Alex Pellicciotti, Jon Neiman and Adam Benfield. Tyler Mauger and Zach Heffner contributed to the victory by receiving forfeits. The Bears improved their record to 9 and 0 in the PAC 10 and 23 and 7 overall. The postseason begins this Saturday, February 20 with sectionals which are being held at BASH.

Bears defeat C.R. South 38-35 for District Title!

Congratulations to the BASH wrestling team for earning their first ever District I Team Championship. The Bears first pounded Council Rock North 48-18 in the semi finals and then defeated Council Rock South in a heart stopping, come from behind 38-35 victory which had as many twists and turns as a roller coaster. Collecting wins in the final for the Bears were Adam Kolb, Matt Malfaro, Alex Pellicciotti, Luke Hoffman, Tyler Mauger, Zach Heffner, and Ryan Schwager. This team, who are arguably the best team in Boyertown's storied history, will next take the mats in the Giant Center in Hershey, PA on Friday as they via for a team state title. Go Bears!

Pellicciotti breaks school record for career pins

In the District 1 semifinal match against Council Rock North, senior Alex Pellicciotti earned his 81st career fall to break the school record previously held by 2004 graduate and state champ Mike Spaid.

Earlier this season, Alex broke the school record for career wins which was previously held by 2007 grad Jesse DeWan at 143 career wins.  After the District Duals Championship match, in which Alex earned another pin, Alex's career record stood at 156-21 with 82 career falls.  He currently also leads the team in wins this season with 31 and in pins with 25.

Congratulations Boyertown Youth Wrestling Club!

Our Boyertown Youth Wrestling Club has AGAIN won the ICWL Team Championship. We have won this tournament 3 times in the last 4 years. It is an awesome accomplishment to win this tournament. There are over 50 teams in our ICWL league.

This is a testament of the strength of our program and the dedication of our wrestlers, parents, coaches and Board of Directors. Boyertown Wrestling has a reputation of being one of the best programs in the region and the TRADITION CONTINUES!
